Watchers

WOW! It has certainly been ages since I updated this thing.  I been a busybody of late, getting some minor jobs and working on getting my art career in full gear.  I gotta admit, after posting a certain thread in the forums a whiles back I felt discouraged and wasn't certain how to proceed with the next big advancement in my life.  Now though, I have gone back to suggestions that some of my friends from my internship suggested and I have decided to pursue selling tattoo design work in the form of style sheets.  New York has a big tattoo market and I think I can honestly make a profit doing this.  Anyway, my first big project is in production and I have given myself some realistic time tables.  I have currently finished the first phase of the 20 sheets I'm working on.  The fist phase being the layout and composition phase.  After that I have diligently worked night after night attempting to finish my project.  Five of the twenty sheets are currently done.  Now I have 15 left to go.  I set a realistic benchmark for myself (Hey, comic book artists have to do 22+pages a month for their work, if they can do it, so can I!!!) and just dove face first into the unknown.  So that's what I been working on.  20 pages for my first ever sale of art, and there is something else I wanna update you guys on too.  I have another commission project given to me by a close friend which is also a tattoo project.  I'll have to do three sheets, and this will be a paying project.  Well gang, I'm sorry I haven't uploaded work in a while, I just been very busy.  I haven't forgot about my fans.  I have some great work to upload over the next few days, and I will be getting around to it.  I want to get back to posting more Step-By-Step art projects that are actually finished.  I had fun doing that stuff.  So yeah gang, just sit tight, and bare with me.  I will have a ton more stuff up soon!!! And if you guys are extra good, I might post my comparisons project I been work on!!!

Heya! Thank you for the watch - I appreciate it! You have a lot of great work here; I like the focus on anatomy. It reminds me that I need to get back into anatomy-practice every day. :3

Yeah I've been trying to improve my basic drawing skills. I draw fairly often now, and I upload my work in the sketches phase. It's only recently that I started to really try to finish art so I can post them in a more final format. I got a few finished drawings up. All in all Lumaris, I really like your art style too. Keep up the good work!

See the main problem with freehand is that I tend to make a -lot- more mistakes when I attempt that. I prefer to draw using charts because the charts is how I learned to draw in the first place. I think the charts are important because it helps you keep your chosen subject in proportion. When you are drawing poses you can deviate from the basic proportion charts considerably, but all in all, I stick to the charts. I am a very messy artist with or without charts, but I keep my mistakes. I have a lightbox and I use that to correct and make edits on original drawings.

Thank you so much for the kind words.

Right now I am doing a long series of studies, and I am working on truly mastering my anatomy skills and construction techniques. I got my proportions more or less solid for the time being.

My studies are meant to gain a complete grasp of constructing the human figure accurately, and with skill. I want to be able to draw the figure in any angle, and in any pose I can imagine. Those are my goals.

In any event, keep an eye on my gallery, a massive update will happen this weekend.

You're a great colorist. Do you color by hand or digitally? So far I am still learning colour theory and I hope to one day get really good at it.

That is a very nice compliment. Admittedly, my anatomy knowledge could be just that much better. I am always trying to learn and I am a critique of my own work. I am working on improving as well, and I hope to have some more stuff up this weekend!
